Creating in public, whether it’s online or in the real world, is an amazing opportunity engine. People who do cool things for others get opportunities to do more cool things for even more people.
Developing your talents in private, might be necessary in the very beginning, but almost everyone would benefit from publishing early and publishing often.
There are 4 key areas to an opportunity engine. I break them down to:
- Learn
- Connect
- Create
- Promote
Learn – Master the basic skills of your craft but also learn what’s working for others
Connect – Our success is always dependent on the quality of our network. The more people you know, the better.
Create – Producing our work for others to see is a critical part of the process
Promote – If no one sees your work, it doesn’t exist.
